Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

A Day At The Zoo

Last Tuesday was fun. Becky took me to the Zoo. I hadn't been to a zoo in well over 10 years. What a great time we had. It was half price day, so it was packed. The best part of the day was this odd rooster that fell in love with Becky. He followed her all over the children's area.

He sure was a strange looking bird. We later found out he is a rare breed called a Turken. [link]

Becky bought me the cutest flamingo purse for my birthday. Yes, she gave it to me early. The rest of the week was pretty much the same as always.

Running a little late today. Becky and I went to The Danish Festival in Greenville. There were some interesting booths. I got some hair scrunchies. The band was pretty good. Don't know the name. Only heard them from a distance. I will do all the notifications tomorrow. I am really tired. All that walking.
