Still taking a break from dA. I will be back eventually. Not sure when. No need to comment on this. I have no idea when I will be back to answer you. When I do come back, it will not be the same as before. No more feature journals. I just can't do it anymore. I don't even know if I will be making fractals anymore. My desktop has died and I can't afford to replace it. The laptop I am using takes too long to render anything and the computer is worthless for anything while I wait. Not sure how long it will hold up.

Living in this complex takes up a lot of my time. There is always something going on. It keeps me busy.

I am doing well and my eye is healing better than the Dr.s expected. I am off the antibiotics and am beginning to feel more like myself again. I go back in three weeks for another check. Hopefully I will get my perscription for new glassees. I sure need them.

Mom is doing about the same. Still doesn't understand why she can't go home.

I survived the surgery and so did the Dr.s. I can't say it was fun, but it was interesting. It was much easier on me this time around. I was out much longer and I was laying down rather that sitting. They did have a lot of work to do. They really worked on that cataract. It was very thick and hard. I could hear them cutting it out and putting in the new lense. My eye is still swollen and tender. It will be a while before I restart my feature jurnals. I need to let this eye heal. My sight improves daily. The double vision is gone. I go back to the Dr. next Wednesday to see how things are progressing. It will be at least a month before I get my new glasses. Love you all, my dear friends. I'll try to get to answering messages soon. No promisses, though.

The start to a lovely day.







Happy Mother's Day to all my "Mommy" friends.



The visit with Sarah was wonderful. We had a great time together. Her friend, Dan, is a sweetheart. We were so excited about seeing each other we forgot to take photos of us together. The Tulip Festival was a bit of a wash. It rained all day and we got soaked to the skin. No way to take pics in that wet. We found a coffeeshop to dry off a bit and I had the best espresso I have had in years. Sarah and I will get pics next time she comes. The rest of the week I have was busy prepping for the surgery Thursday.  I did some rearranging of the apartment. It looks much better now.

Everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed that there will not be another "family emergency" for my eye surgeon. I want that cataract out! I can't remember ever looking forward to having surgery like this. I do so want to be able to see clearly again.

I may have found someone to work on my desktop computer. The brother of a gentleman who lives in the complex. Hoping to have the money next month. I do miss that big computer. I need to start putting money aside to get a new, more powerful one. One that will run my games and Vue without a big fuss.

I will be taking a break from dA for a bit after my surgery. Not sure how long I will be gone, but I will drop by to check on things and answer messages. These last few years have been very stressful and I need a break from serous things. Just need a little time to veg out. I will be back eventually. Anyone who wants me can either leave a message that I will eventually answer or find me on my facebook page.

No feature today. My dear friend Sarah is coming for a visit. We are going to the Tulip Time Festival tomorrow. Hurry, hurry, hurry.








This is my life nowdays. Busy all the time. When I'm not, I just need to veg out. Because of the way this city and it's suburbs are layed out and the way the bus system works, it takes hours just to go to one store, shop and get home. Nothing is centralized, except the bus station.  It's frustrating and fun. It does mean I have to go somewhere nearly every day. I do love to explore. The bus drivers are great and everyone who rides the bus has been friendly. I'm learning my way around.

There was some excitement this last week. Someone burned something that set off the fire alarm around 9:30PM, Thursday. Tulip and I had just settled in for the night, when the loudspeaker came on and said to evacuate the building. Soooo, I grabbed my slippers, robe and Tulips' leash and off down the stairwell we went. What fun we have. We all gathered in the lobby and waitied to find out what had happened. This is the second time this has happened since I've lived here. The perils of living in a senior complex. I love it. Keeps life exciting.

I had a nice long talk with Mom on Tuesday.  She was excited about turning 90. My sister baked her a big birthday cake, but forgot to bring her a Coke. She seems to be doing quite well. On a sadder note, my daughter got a letter from her wanting to know where her driver's license and car were. She still thinks she can drive. I doubt that will ever change.

My eye surgery has been reschedualed for May 17. I have to seen the eye Dr. again before, to make sure there have been no dangerous changes. I will see her on the 30th of this month. Keep you fingers crossed the surgeon doesn't have any more family emergencies. I want that cataract removed!! I want to be able to see clearly again.

It's going to be one of those days.










I woke up to thunder and lightning this morning. Looks like there will be storms on and off all day. This week hasn't been a whole lot better. I spent a lot of time the first part of the week rearranging my apartment and cleaning places I hadn't been able to clean for months. Thursday started ok. Went and did some grocery shopping in the morning. Afternoon went to hell. My desktop went pfffft-fzzz and froze up. The desktop icons looked like they were in 3d. So I forced a shutdown and restarted in safe mode. Same thing happened without the noise. Tried it again normally. did it again. It gets almost loaded and everything freezes. Luckily I have the laptop. I'll be using that untill I can find someone to figure ou what's wrong with poor Gloria and fix her. It's going to be a while.  I have very little money left this month. It took all my cash to pay for the truck last weekend. It's going to be a long month.

On a brighter note, Mom will be 90 on Tuesday. I will call her then.

Bunnies, chicks, and colorful eggs. What fun.








First I want to apologize for not getting messages answered this week. Everytime I would get started, something would interupt me. I will get them answered soon, along with the newer ones.

What a week it was. Since my eye surgery was canceled at the last minute, Becky and I decided to spend the day together anyway. What fun. We went to a Chinese Buffet for lunch. The place is huge, 12 tables and the food is great. They also have a sushi bar and steaks. Stopped at my favorite craft store and spent the rest of the day looking for candy stores.  Yesterday Becky and my son in law came and got the last of Mom's things that have been taking up space in my apartment. I now have the whole place to myself. It is so wonderful not to have all those totes and boxes looming over me. Best of all I can run my vaccuum now.

I talked with my sister and Mom is doing well. Her mind is so much clearer since they have reduced her pain meds.

It's a bright sunny day and all is well in my world.

I recieved a phone call earlier this week from my eye Dr.. My surgery has been postponed. The surgeon had a family emergency and could not be here this week. I waited to tell everyone in case they called to reschedual, but no one has called. It should be later this month. I'm hoping. It's disappointing, but I do understand. I'll let you know when I have a new date.

Tonight the new season of Game of Thrones starts. I am so excited. I read the books as they were originally released and the series has remained as true as possible to the books. This is the basis of my themed feature today. My twisted, evil mind would love to live in that world. I've always lived in a fantasy world. I hate it when I have to come back to reality.


Love the April Fools fun this year. dA has outdone itself. I will include as many cats as possible in my features today to help get Fella released.

What an exciting week it has been. Good exciting. Wednesday I had that appointment with the foot Dr. to see about the diabetic shoes. Oh, no! Not a chance! What he brought were mens work shoes. Heavy black oxfords. I walked out less than 5 minutes later. I don't do ugly! I told him I would never wear something like that and left. So..... I call my driver and someone at a gas station picks up and tells me my driver has left her phone, and would I let her know. How am I supposed to do that? Luckily another driver from the same company was picking up at the same building, so he took me home.
Now to the really good stuff.
I found my brother, Roger. It has been 45 years since I saw him. He came to our father's funeral and I rode back to San Diego with him and my stepmother. He was in the Navy at the time. What a grand trip we had. We had a wonderful long talk on the phone. I discovered I have 5 nephews and several grands as well. He is living just half an hours drive from my son, so I called Erik and we had a great talk. He had forgotten about his uncle, but was happy to know he was so close. Here's the fun part. Roger has kept in touch with our older sister Jackie and he gave me her address. I also have a younger sister Jackie from my mother's side of my family. Both are good Christian ladys and both are married to men named Ralph. What are the odds of that happening? I bless my Fairy Godmother for giving me such an interesting life.

It's Spring!

Spring is coming. Tuesday at  5:14AM. The weather has been lovely and it feels wonderful. I was getting tired of the cold. The birds are singing loud and squirrels chasing each other everywhere. I've put my skirts to the front of the closet and the heavy pants to the back. Time to pack away the sweaters.
My visit with the cardiologist went well. No problems. The odd beat is nothing to worry about. It could be caused by one of my meds. He will send a report to my Dr. and he will decide if anything needs to be done. I am cleared for the surgery. Never thought I would get so excited about having surgery, but this means I will be able to see clearly again. I have an appointment Wednesday with the foot Dr. We shall see what he says, but I know my feet are n good shape and I'm not worried.

There is a new photography group I want to tell you about.   It's a group for everyone who owns a camera and loves to take photos. Not just the pros. Go check them out.

I went for my pre-op exam last Thursday. Mixed reviews. My labs came back good. A1C is down to 6.2.   Did not pass the EKG. The beat in the atrial (top chambers) of my heart are too long. Have to see a heart specialist Tuesday. I'll update when I get home. My Dr. said it's nothing dangerous, but must be checked out before surgery. Murphey is riding my shoulder again. Other than that I am having fun teasing the residents of the building. They are such fun. They love my hair. Some of them will even pet it. I measured my braid, from the hairband on the ponytail to the end and it's over 28 inches long. I can't measure it when it's down, but it comes past the end of my spine. I promised Mom I wouldn't cut it again, so we shall see how long it gets. I'll get my daughter to take some pics when she comes for my surgery. Mom is the same. She still seems to think she will be able to get out of the nursing home and drive again.

We use them every day.






It's been a rough week. We have had one storm after another. Snow, sleet, freezing rain, high winds and cold temps. If winter can throw it at you, we got it. That sets off the arthritis. Not fun. Even poor Tulip was hurting.  Luckily, we missed the worst of the storms. I feel bad for those who lost their homes to the outbreak of tornados. To top things off we had a building wide fire alarm synchronization. Fire alarms going off every few minutes. My ears will never be the same. Poor Tulip hid in her house all day. It took her three hours to come out of hiding, after it was all over.
This Thursday I have my pre-op checkup. No problem there. My heart is good. One month to go before I can see again.

Another week has passed. Winter finally showed up for a few days. Two days of snow and wind. I think we ended up with about 5 inches of snow.  Looks like it's going to be sunny today.  Sun on the snow will be so pretty. I am looking forward to spring. Getting tired of naked trees.

I'm finally getting my kitchen set up the way I want it. My biggest problem is a lack of places for the larger things. I need a bakers rack. It's the only thing I can think of that will give me what I need. Once I find where I hid my camera, I'll take some photos.

Nothing happening this week. I do have to go out to Woodland Mall to pick up the book I ordered. That takes care of Monday. Think I'll explore the bus lines the rest of the week. See where they take me. There is also another mall to explore. Remind me to hunt down that camera and put it in my purse.

My visit with the Dr. went very well. Got all my meds straightened out and my bloodpressure is down some. Not perfect, but better.  

I fianlly got that inspection by the property owners. Everything went just fine. I've been spending quite a bit of time riding the buses and exploring the city.This city is so spread out it takes forever to get anywhere. It helps that the bus system has an online trip planner. I tell it where I am and where I want to go and it tells me how to get there. I love that.  I found a great upscale grocery, where I can get good things to eat. I still have a couple of malls to visit yet. Those take time. I ordered Doerays *Doeray-G book. [link] forward to reading it. I was very naughty. I bought myself a new toy. [link] Mine doesn't have the red, but I love it just the same. Now my shoulders won't ache when I make noodles. I've been saving for a while to get it.   

Had a nice long talk with Mom last night. She told me she has been falling a lot. Not good. That means she is trying to do things without calling for help.  I need to talk to my sister and find out what is going on. I'll call her this afternoon. I'll update if there is anything important.

We got about 6 inches of snow Friday. At times it came down quite thick. I had to go out and play in it. What fun.  It won't last long. It's supposed to warm next week and all that will be left are piled of dirty snow.  Other than that not one exciting thing happened last week. I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow. Always good to eat.








I am sure glad this week is over. I saw the opthomologist Monday. What was to be a one hour appointment, turned into over 4 hours. I think they did nearly every test on my eyes possible. I will be having surgery to remove the cataract April 5th. It is now so thick that they couldn't see through it and so large it was hard to see around it. I am really looking forward to having this done. It should have been done three years ago, but Mom had the stroke and that put everything else on hold. Once it is done, I will only need to wear glasses for fine work. It will seem strange not to have them on all the time. I've worn glasses since I was 6. The diabetes meeting went better than I expected. No lectures about my lifestyle. She was pleased with how well I take care of myself.  I will be getting a new testing meter and diabetic shoes. Not sure I will like the shoes. Most I've seen are so ugly, I wouldn't wear them. I warned her I don't wear shoes that weigh more than I do.

Mom's condition hasn't changed. The last time I talked to her, she thought she was going to Florida to stay with my youngest sister. That is not happening. I made sure of that. It is so hard to talk to her when she is like this. My aunt had knee surgery this week and came through well. The rest of the family is doing just fine.

I went to the funeral for my neighbor yesterday. It was a nice service. The church was beautiful. I had a chance to talk with her nephew and tell him how much she helped me when I first moved in. I do miss her. I baked some olive bread when I got home and shared half of it with my neighbor across the hall. The upstairs neighbor is home and the children are gone. Other than that it was a boring week. Next week will be a bit more exciting. I have an appointment with my opthamologist and that diabetes meeting.

I'm beginning to learn my way are around the city. I've found out how to get to all the malls. I am so looking forward to spring so I can walk to some of the stores that are further off the bus lines. There is an Italian grocer I want to visit. Becky took me there when we were on one of out trips to the city. [link] Not your normal grocery store.

I had a nice talk with Mom. She seemed to be doing well. She is still talking about getting a car and going shopping. I'm going to call my sister this afternoon and see what she has to say about Mom's condition.
